Why Do We Overthink It?
Share my faith? I can't do that! It's too … complicated. Too much to remember, too much that can go wrong, too many possible questions I can't answer. Plus … what will you think of me? I can’t remember all the passages of the Road or four laws of a spiritual nature. What about the age of the universe? What if they think I'm judgmental?
It's a lot easier to tell you about a new pizza place we found. We love it! The food is delicious, and very authentic. They bake it in a special oven like the ones they use in Italy. I don't know why that matters, but it does. No matter what you prefer on your pizza, they likely have something you'll find delicious. It's not at all like the chain pizza places (not all pizza places lead to pizza joy). I don't know how long they’ve been in business, and I don't know how they get the crust so flakey. I do know that it's the best pizza we've had, and I think you should give it a try. But if for some reason you don't care for it, I won't judge you for it, and what you think of me doesn't change how much I love this pizza.
But I can't share my faith, because … you know ... what if they ask me a question I don't know the answer to? What if they don't think it's wonderful, too? What if I forget one of the great reasons we love it?
Mmmmmm … pizza.
