Look For The Lovingkindness of God

The earth is full of Your lovingkindness, O LORD; Teach me Your statutes. - NASB: 1995 Update, Ps 119:64.
Typically, when we look at God's creation we see His creative genius, His power, His wisdom, and we are moved to fear Him and worship Him. But, in this verse when the psalmist looks out upon the earth, the current dwelling place of man, he sees that God has filled it with His lovingkindness. So his humble response is the prayer request, "Teach me Your Statutes."
Why does the psalmist make this request of God? It must be because he wants to understand the importance of God's lovingkindness, shown to man. It is the lovingkindness of God, that is His loyal love towards man, that makes this world inhabitable by man. Without it we would all surely perish in a moment of God's wrath. Without it there would be no Savior provided. Without it there would be no new covenant built on better promises. Without it there would be no hope of future glory with Christ. Without it there would be no patience of God. Without it there would be no Word of God. It takes the word of God, taught by the Spirit of God, to fully grasp the significance of the lovingkindness of God to our lives.
Let's join with the psalmist in asking God to teach us His statues as we see the lovingkindness of God on display in the earth.
